'I rarely make covers, but this one came in May 2023 just after Gordon Lightfoot passed away. My dear friend JC mentioned it was his favourite Lightfoot song, and I decided to make him a special Birthday present. So the cello instrumental was a present at first.

I met Tréson at another friend's Birthday Party in July 2023. We connected and said we would do music together! We were talking about covers one day, and I mentioned to him that I have one made already!! He was thrilled when I said it was a Gordon Lightfoot tune! Tréson came into my closet studio to record the vocals (my first time doing any vocal recording!) and it was mixed and mastered by my amazing Rage Angel co-creator, Craig Robert McConnell.

So here you have both versions...which I love dearly.' - Margaret Maria

Margaret Maria and Tréson COVER GORDON LIGHTFOOT'S 'SONG FOR A WINTER'S NIGHT'

The new music that is Margaret Maria and Tréson is as unique as the artists themselves. The classical world is colliding with the genres of funk, soul and pop, with a fresh new sound and a musical playgroud for Margaret Maria's creativity and Tréson's songwriting and vocal talents. Being courageous and brave to collaborate and venture into uncharted territories, this duo is set to change the world in a way that will not only surprise you, but delight your sonic sensibilities.

Their first single 'Music Can Change the World' was released December 15, 2023.

Lyrics

The lamp is burnin' low upon my table top
The snow is softly falling
The air is still in the silence of my room
I hear your voice softly calling
If I could only have you near
To breathe a sigh or two
I would be happy just to hold the hands I love
On this winter night with you
The smoke is rising in the shadows overhead
My glass is almost empty
I read again between the lines upon each page
The words of love you sent me
If I could know within my heart
That you were lonely too
I would be happy just to hold the hands I love
On this winter night with you
The fire is dying
Now my lamp is growing dim
The shades of night are lifting
The morning light steals across my window pane
Where webs of snow are drifting
If I could only have you near
To breathe a sigh or two
I would be happy just to hold the hands I love
On this winter night with you
And to be once again with you
